Dominica is more suited to people who are comfortable in hiking boots or sneakers. High heels should be left at home, you won’t need them here (and zip line companies don't allow them!); there is very little nightlife on Dominica as most travelers prefer to listen to the whisper of the jungle.
That doesn’t mean that there isn’t much to see or do on Dominica, the mountains offer hiking, cycling and the bird watching is unmatched anywhere else in the Caribbean. The island has a huge national park which offers sanctuary to all of its abundant wildlife; there is also one of the most spectacular waterfalls to be found anywhere. Water lovers can snorkel, dive or kayak to their hearts content whilst the less active can laze on one of the sandy beaches.
There are no direct flights to Dominica which has kept mainstream tourism at bay and a secret that can only be discovered by island hopping but the locals are friendly and enjoy talking to the travelers that do visit this beautiful little refuge from the modern rat race.
There is a zip line in Dominica that was initially installed for scientists to study the jungle canopy but now zippers can fly between the suspended platforms and over the river to get unique views of this unspoilt little island.
